Surgeons and Patients
Carrot surgeons are patients too!
The US Military declared unaided vision essential and started the Warfighters Refractive Surgery Program (WRESP) in 2005. Since that time nearly 1 million sailors, soldiers, pilots and marines have undergone LASIK. Carrot surgeons Drs. Hammond and Herion trained in the military and performed many of those procedures. In fact, Dr. Hammond ran a WRESP center in Germany for three years!
Unaided vision is essential for many occupations. First-responders, athletes, people in the performing arts, drivers, pilots (with appropriate clearance) and any job that requires quality, unaided vision benefit from LASIK.

LASIK and COVID
LASIK is now more affordable than ever.
In the time of COVID, Modern LASIK helps keep you safe.
Glasses and masks do not mix – masks fog up glasses and that can be dangerous. Using tape to stop fogging can irritate skin. Masks also increase dry eyes and make contact lenses difficult or impossible to wear. People who wear glasses and contacts can also make it impossible to keep your hands away from your face. Being free of glasses and contacts can help.

SMILE and Moms
Mothers love SMILE
New moms are very special—and caring for babies and toddlers is hard enough without having to worry about glasses. Babies love to grab things and glasses are often within reach. New moms don’t have time for glasses!
There have been many studies about LASIK and pregnancy. LASIK during pregnancy is not recommended – there are too many changes happening throughout the body during pregnancy and drops and other medications are best avoided. Once pregnancy and nursing are finished it its very common for mothers to have LASIK. Being able to see without glasses makes it easier and safer to care for children and removes a major hassle from a busy mother’s day.

Only 15 minutes per eye!
Also referred to as clear lens exchange or refractive lensectomy, RLE is a surgical procedure that involves removing the natural lens of the eye and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This might sound like a similar procedure to cataract surgery. That’s because it is. RLE is essentially the same procedure without the presence of a cataract. Like LASIK and other modern eye surgeries, refractive IOLs have allowed millions of patients to achieve 20/20 vision or better without the need for corrective lenses.
Removal of the eye’s natural lens and replacement with an IOL sounds like a very involved surgery. So it might surprise you to learn that the procedure only takes 15 minutes per eye, and is performed on an outpatient basis.
Implantable contact lens (ICL) surgery is effective and safe.
The ICL is an implantable lens that works with the natural lens of your eye to improve your vision. During the procedure, the lens is inserted between your iris and your natural lens thru a tiny incision that usually does not require any stitches.
SO VERY HELPFUL!!! I’d give them 6 out of 5 stars if I could. We were from out-of-town, at our son’s baseball tournament. We called around 7:30 in the morning and they helped us out in a “ripped contact lens without any extras emergency” and got us replacements almost immediately. He was able to continue playing without missing any pop flies!
